Loping into Fitness!

Various studies have shown that walking is the best exercise for an individual. Walking can be done anywhere, anytime… with a pair of good shoes. In addition, running is one of the most effective, time-efficient workouts around for those that want to progress to a higher intensity workout. Starting and sticking with a walking or running program doesn’t have to be difficult. It’s simply a matter of doing the right things at the right time to keep you motivated.
“Loping into Physical Fitness”
The UCR Wellness Program for Academic and Staff and Walking Fit partnered with the Riverside Lopers to hold “Loping into Physical Fitness” on August 11, 2009. A total of 15 attended the event presented by Daniel Genin and Cynthia DeSoto of the Riverside Lopers. The presentation provided information on:
· Training programs for walkers and runners
· Information on joining the Riverside Lopers
· Real life stories from 2 experienced Lopers
The speakers provided a very enthusiastic and motivating presentation along with displays of past race medals, resource books, and Lopers information. Walking Fit Committee members were on hand to answer questions about the program and distribute pedometers.
